I'm MBA class of 1957 and my first job after HBS was as a roustabout on a Kerr-McGee Corporation (my employer) offshore oil drilling rig 60 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico off Cameron, LA--pay: $1.75 an hour. I now own and operate PerformanceBuilders Learning, an educational services firm that provides live on-site productivity and performance improvement programs to managers and executives of major organizations--our geographic base is any place that can be driven to (from Milwaukee) and back from the same day, which basically encompasses all of Wisconsin plus northern Illinois and the Twin Cities.
I love classical and choral music, the out-of-doors, good writing, and our family--not necessarily in that order. Have been and continue active in both Amherst and HBS alumni affairs (including a recent 3-year term on the HBS Alumni Association Board of Directors), and contribute some time to Milwaukee performing arts organizations and the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Suzy and I (we're both from Cleveland, OH) have been married 40 years. Before moving to Wisconsin in 1987 we spent 20+ years in the New York City area. We have two grown daughters, one married and living here in Milwaukee and the other single and starting graduate school in social work in Washington, D.C.
